Reference standards

The standards behind every install.

These are the first things buyers and inspectors check.

ASTM F1292

Impact attenuation

The critical fall height a surface is tested to protect at a given depth.

ASTM F1951

Surface accessibility

Whether a wheelchair can move across the surface under and around equipment.

ASTM F2479

Poured-in-place guide

How to specify, install and maintain poured-in-place playground surfacing.

ADA 2010

Accessible routes

Accessible routes to and within play areas under the 2010 ADA Standards.

Public Playground Safety Handbook

Federal guidance on use zones, fall heights and protective surfacing.

IPEMA

Third-party certification

Independent certification that a surfacing system meets ASTM F1292 and F1951.

Part 2 Products

Four surfacing systems, repairs and site preparation, plus custom color blends for poured rubber.

Surfacing systems

Four surfaces, one installer. Plus repairs.

Each system is matched to the fall heights, drainage, foot traffic and budget of your site.

A.

Poured-in-place rubber

A seamless two-layer system: an SBR cushion base under an EPDM or TPV wear layer. Porous or non-porous, indoor or outdoor, in any color or inlaid design.

Your blend also fills the site plan on sheet S-1 at the top of this page.

    Part 3 Execution

How a project runs, how deep the surface goes, where we install and the work behind it.

    Sequence of work

    From site visit to sign-off.

The same five steps on every job, from a single daycare play area to a district-wide contract.

    1. Site assessment

Measure the area, check drainage and the existing base, and confirm fall heights for every piece of equipment.

    2. Specification

System, depths, colors and product data submitted for your approval before any work starts.

    3. Base preparation

Removal of the old surface, excavation and a compacted aggregate or concrete sub-base.

    4. Install & cure

Cushion layer, wear layer and any inlaid graphics, then cure time before the area reopens.

    5. Closeout

Final walkthrough, maintenance guidance and warranty documents for your records.

    Depth by fall height

Size the surface before you write the spec.

Set the highest fall height on your equipment to see a typical poured-in-place depth, layer by layer.

    Depth by fall height

Taller equipment needs a deeper cushion layer. The wear layer stays the same.

Typical for poured-in-place rubber. The final depth comes from the installed system's ASTM F1292 critical-fall-height test report (manufacturer data).

    Clarifications

    Questions buyers ask.

    Do you install outside Florida?

Yes. iPlay is based in Florida and installs in all 50 states. Send the project location with your request and we'll confirm the schedule.

How deep does the rubber need to be?

It depends on the highest fall height of your equipment. Use the planner above for a typical figure. The final depth follows the installed system's ASTM F1292 test report, and we include it in the submittal.

Can you repair our existing surface?

Yes. We assess the whole surface, repair granulating, faded or torn areas, and tell you plainly when a full resurface costs less over time than repeated patching.

How soon can the playground reopen?

Poured-in-place rubber needs time to cure, typically 24 to 72 hours depending on temperature and humidity. The reopening date is set in your project schedule.

Can you provide bonds, a certificate of insurance and a W-9?

A W-9 is available on request. Certificate of insurance: [COI details]. Bonding capacity: [single job / aggregate].
